Apple Contacts permission

People by Super Simple™ asks for Contacts access in context. You can review or change permission in system Privacy settings. The app remains available with preview records when permission has not been granted.

Google and Microsoft sync

Connected accounts refresh while the app is active, and pull-to-refresh is available on Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Saved edits sync automatically by default with the account that owns the contact. Open account settings to review connection status, retry an interrupted queue, choose an optional review or local-only policy, or reconnect authorization.

Trial and subscription

Coming in version 1.0.2: People starts a 30-day trial when you first open a version with the trial and no saved trial record exists, including on an existing installation. It requires no purchase and never charges automatically. After the trial, browsing and search remain available; the annual plan will provide full access. US$12 annual pricing is scheduled for September 6, 2026; the current App Store price and existing subscription terms apply until then. Prices are localized. If you subscribe during the trial, the annual plan begins under the displayed App Store terms. You can view, change, or cancel your plan in Apple Account subscription settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Billing and refund requests are handled through Apple Support.

The previous annual introductory offer has been removed for new purchases. An introductory period already started remains subject to Apple’s existing terms. The new no-purchase 30-day trial arrives with version 1.0.2.

Coming in 1.0.2: connect a desktop assistant on your Mac

People 1.0.2 will include local native MCP for searching, reading, creating, and editing contacts. Keep People open and the Mac awake with an active trial or subscription. Ordinary browser chats and mobile assistants cannot connect to this local service.

The service and contact edits run on your Mac. Requested information is returned to your assistant, which may send, store, and process it with its AI provider under their policies. Read the sharing notice before enabling access.

  1. Install Claude Desktop on your Mac, then open People → Settings → AI Connections.
  2. Turn on Allow AI access. Enable Allow contact changes only if you want editing.
  3. Choose Install for Claude and finish approving the People extension in Claude Desktop. No configuration file or separate access key needs to be copied.
  4. Keep People open and ask Claude to find a contact. Opening the installer alone does not confirm a connection.

People provides a local desktop extension containing its native connection helper and a private credential. No Python, shell script, browser login, People account, or public connector URL is needed.

Other desktop assistants

In Other assistants · Advanced setup, choose Copy connection configuration. Desktop clients accepting mcpServers JSON can use the copied format. Clients using other formats must translate the command, arguments, and environment. This advanced setup launches People --mcp; copy fresh configuration if you move the app to another application path.

Editing and troubleshooting

  • Service unavailable: open People, check trial/subscription access, and enable AI access. Ready status describes the local service, not a completed assistant handshake.
  • Writes denied: enable Allow contact changes. This permits all assistants using the current MCP credential, not one named client.
  • Stale or timed-out edit: ask the assistant to read again before retrying. Retried creates must reuse their original request ID.
  • Stop access: disable AI access or choose Reset access for all assistants. Reset invalidates every previous installation and configuration; reinstall in Claude or update your other assistants to reconnect.

MCP supports five tools: list accounts, search, read, create, and update. Search returns at most 100 contacts without pagination. There are no delete, merge, group-editing, CSV-export, or account-connection tools. Successful edits save locally; account policy governs provider uploads. Revocation does not undo saves or delete data already received by your assistant or its AI provider; their retention and deletion controls apply.

Keep installers and copied configuration private. For support, send the error and client name/version, never extension packages, tokens, passwords, configuration JSON, or contact data. Read the privacy details.

New-feature notifications

Turn on new-feature notifications in People Settings to receive release announcements, including while the app is closed. This is optional and requires iCloud and notification permission on each device. Your preference syncs through iCloud.

To stop announcements, turn the setting off in People. If you are offline, reopen People after reconnecting to iCloud so it can finish removing the subscription. You can also control delivery for an individual device in system notification settings. What’s New in People remains available in the app without enabling notifications.

Protecting your contact data

Before a large import, export, or bulk edit, review the preview and destination account carefully. Keep exports in a secure location. Duplicate linking is local and does not merge or delete source records across providers.
